Adopted and Thriving

Rescue Horse-Adopted

Chica

Chica is our little ray of sunshine—a 4-year-old Quarter Pony mare with the heart of a golden retriever and an endless sense of curiosity. She came to us from an auction, where her future was uncertain, and from the moment she arrived, it was clear she was something truly special.

Sweet, affectionate, and wonderfully inquisitive, Chica thrives on connection. Whether you’re fixing fences, cleaning stalls, or simply standing still for a moment, she’ll be right by your side—“helping” in her own way or happily supervising. She is a true people horse, happiest when she’s soaking up attention, enjoying a good grooming session, or sneaking in extra scratches.

Chica is also bright and eager to learn, and she does best when she has a job to keep her mind engaged. Like many smart young horses, she has a playful streak—she’s even been known to test gates and let herself out in search of greener grass!

Before arriving at the rescue, Chica had been lightly started under saddle and was comfortable at the walk, trot, and canter. With continued guidance, she showed every sign of developing into a wonderful partner.

We are thrilled to share that Chica has found her perfect match—a loving family who plans to make her a partner for their 7-year-old daughter. With her kind heart, intelligence, and desire to connect, we have no doubt she will thrive in her new home and bring years of joy to her family.

Because of your support, horses like Chica get the second chance they deserve.

Hope

Hope is our quiet reminder of strength, trust, and resilience. A 24-year-old Quarter Horse mare, she is mostly blind—but you’d hardly know it watching her move through her days with calm confidence. Where her eyesight falls short, her heart and intuition more than make up for it.

During her time with us, Hope navigated both barn and pasture with grace, often alongside her best friend and “seeing-eye pony,” Cracker. The two shared a special bond and were rarely far from one another, a partnership that brought comfort and confidence to Hope’s world.

Despite her limited vision, Hope continued to give so much. She was patient, kind, and steady under saddle, helping beginner riders learn not only the basics, but also trust, empathy, and connection. She had a way of teaching lessons far beyond riding.

Hope has always loved the quiet moments most—gentle grooming sessions, soft voices, and simply being near her people. It’s in those moments that her kind, steady spirit truly shines.

As our rescue continued to grow and change, we recognized that the constant movement and activity were leaving Hope feeling unsettled. She needed something we couldn’t fully provide—a calm, consistent environment where she could truly relax and feel safe.

We are incredibly grateful to share that Hope found exactly that. She has been rehomed to a compassionate individual who offers a large, peaceful pasture and a life centered around love, attention, and quiet companionship. It is the perfect “pasture retirement” home—one where Hope can simply be cared for, cherished, and at ease.

Her story is a powerful reminder that rescue isn’t always about keeping horses forever—it’s about finding the right place for each horse to thrive. And thanks to people willing to open their hearts and homes, horses like Hope are given the dignity and comfort they deserve in their later years.

Because of your support, horses like Hope are not only rescued—but truly understood.
